You want to feel super confident, incredible, and within a paradise. What if I said that a big part of that is mind control? Would you believe me?

Hard to believe?

How do you feel when you zone out, when your mind wanders off taking its own course? Do you end up feeling amazing? Or do you feel like you lost a bit of time in your life that you can’t get back?

Isn’t day dreaming good for you?

I am not an authority on this though I would agree. My argument is that our modern lifestyle has compelled us to zone out more than what is beneficial for us. I have found that the guidance below has made me more conscious or cerebral while I daydream, and that is very rewarding. Nothing beats the feeling of awesomeness and it takes a little effort to get there.

What do you do instead of zoning out?

If the result of your thoughts is to make you feel super confident, incredible, and within a paradise, you will want to do the following:

  • Think about the immediate past. Is there something you should remember about a person even for small talk? Did you leave something behind that you need?
  • Remember something about the coming moment like something about a person you meet (e.g., birthday), a coming activity (e.g., bring the right shoes), and so on. You will anticipate that moment at the best of your ability with no regrets.
  • Plan the next moments of your day and further into your future. Knowing what your goals are and assigning priority means you will be doing exactly what is best.
  • Realize the beauty around you. When you realize you are surrounded by incredible things, it will be hard to take the smile off your face.

If you do the above, in the game of life you will be scoring big.

Here is how it runs down.

  • You just end a moment, like leaving lunch with friends. Did you leave anything behind? Did a friend mention something that you can ask about later (e.g, a coming trip)? Did anyone mention a date that you can record? This takes one minute.
  • Okay, you are on your way. What do you have to do? Do you need anything that you have to get? You have options, prioritize. Make notes to remember anything. this takes a minute or two.
  • You still have time. Consider your long range plans. And your schedule. This is one to five minutes.
  • Look around you and either genuinely find beauty in what you see or appreciate what you see. You can also look within you.
  • If your mind drifts before you have a genuine smile on your face, return to appreciating what you see around you.
  • Your mind drifts though now it doesn’t feel like you are zoning out. You are now more of a director of your thoughts. Your thoughts also build off of the pleasure in the previous moment and they are more to your benefit.

None of this take a lot of time. All it takes is a little discipline to get started and a little more to do it routinely.

Remember, no guys, no glory.
