We all want the most from life. We also would like everything served on a silver platter, meaning we rather not put in much effort to get what we like. But free rides don’t exist in the real world, which means if we want something, we need to work for it. The challenge with this is that without a good focus, hard work is not in itself rewarding and we end up failing to achieve. By turning our focus to that of an entrepreneur, we can enjoy our hard work and feel confident that we are taking a very efficient path to achieving the most from life.
You just need entrepreneurial spirit
You don’t need to have a business to have an entrepreneurial spirit. All would be entrepreneurs have an entrepreneurial spirit before they are a successful business owner. This can be you as well and it really should be if you want to live to your potential. Develop your entrepreneurial spirit and great things will come your way.
You don’t need to ever build a business from scratch either. With an entrepreneurial spirit, you will be promoted at your place of work and potentially, you will become a shareholder. Or, your advancement in one company is simply a stepping stone to another company.
The entrepreneurial spirit
To have an entrepreneurial spirit, you need to be on the constant lookout for opportunities and when you find opportunities, you do everything in your power to make sure the right steps are applied to achieve the desired goal. When you are working for someone else and you do this, your boss will one day hand over the responsibility to you and presto chango, you have been promoted and on your way to greater things.
When working for someone else…
When you are working for someone else, your boss is your customer. Your boss’s objective is to give the market the impression of great value. For example, lets say you work in a clothing store. Your boss wants the customers to believe they are getting great quality, comfort and style for a great price. Therefore, as an entrepreneur, your objective is to give your customer’s (your boss’s) market the impression of great value. This focus is easily recognized by superiors and they desire to find, keep and promote such people. You have the potential, you might as well use it.
All the people you work with are also your customers. Give them great value and they’ll think, that is a person I can rely on and can trust. Only great things can come from this.
This is exactly the same objective as if you had your own B2B (business to business) venture: your objective is to give your client something to make a great impression on his or her market. If you happen to have your own business that serves the end user, your objective is very similar, however, you are focused on the impression of your market.
When at work, your focus must be on your work, not your dreams of self employment. This might seem odd at first, but it makes a lot of sense. You really don’t want to lose your job because you are not focused on your work. This will help you develop the important skill of listening to customers which is an essential skill of an entrepreneur. You just need to become a good note taker to save your thoughts for when you are not at work.
Your guts to glory
If you have the guts, make a goal of starting tomorrow to give the market the impression of great value. You will discover that there is much that you can do and this will become a great learning opportunity. If you have the guts to keep at it, what you will learn will turn into habits and will become effortless. When this happens, the glory will come in amazing ways.
